La Comunidad Ngäbe-Buglé ⏶🔻

Alegría, diversión, educación y reflexión.

El día de hoy fuimos a visitar una de las comunidades Ngabere en La Comarca, Panamá. Tuve una lluvia de sentimientos a lo largo del día que incluso creo que será difícil de explicar. 

Comenzando por su gente, amé sus vestidos, artesanías, baile y comida; en general sus tradiciones y cultura. Pude sentir su cálida bienvenida y felicidad de tenernos allí, al compartir una parte de ellos al igual que nosotros. La curiosidad y ganas de aprender, por parte de los adultos y niños es admirable; ya que en la actualidad son cosas que se han perdido lentamente. Tuve la oportunidad de conectar con ellos, especialmente con los niños; fue una experiencia y sentimiento que seguramente no voy a olvidar. La alegría de estar con ellos, la diversión al jugar con ellos, y finalmente tener la oportunidad de educar a su comunidad para su bienestar. 

No hay lugar a dudas de que tuve muchos momentos de reflexión, tanto dentro de la comunidad como fuera. Una cosa es escuchar de otras personas las cosas que ocurren y otra es verlo con tus propios ojos. Las necesidades, dificultades del día a día y preocupaciones. Junto a mis compañeros estuve pensando en maneras de cómo podríamos ayudar a la comunidad, y seguramente es algo en lo que pensaré por mucho tiempo. 

Este fue un día increíble, donde estuve con un constante sentimiento de felicidad. Estoy orgullosa de mis compañeros por la charla educativa que le ofrecimos a la comunidad, todos lo hicieron increíble y en definitiva se observaron los frutos de su trabajo. Las personas Ngabere son simplemente admirables, espero tener la oportunidad en el futuro de ayudarlos y seguir aprendiendo sobre su bella cultura.

Joy, fun, education, and reflection.

Today we visited one of the Ngabere communities in La Comarca, Panama. I had a flood of emotions throughout the day that I believe will be difficult to explain.

Starting with the people, I loved their dresses, crafts, dances, and food; in general, their traditions and culture. I could feel their warm welcome and happiness to have us there, sharing a part of themselves just as we were. The curiosity and eagerness to learn from both adults and children are admirable, as these are things that have slowly been lost over time. I had the opportunity to connect with them, especially with the children; it was an experience and feeling I will surely never forget. The joy of being with them, the fun of playing with them, and finally having the chance to educate their community for their well-being. 

There is no doubt that I had many moments of reflection, both within the community and outside. Hearing about things happening from other people is one thing, and seeing it with your own eyes is another. The needs, daily difficulties, and concerns. Along with my teammates, I was thinking of ways we could help the community, and it’s certainly something I will think about for a long time.

This was an incredible day, filled with a constant feeling of happiness. I am proud of my teammates for the educational talk we gave to the community; everyone did an amazing job, and the fruits of their labor were evident. The Ngabere people are simply admirable, and I hope to have the opportunity in the future to help them and continue learning about their beautiful culture.
