Tal como menciona el título, el día de hoy fue uno lleno de trabajo y reflexión. Estuvimos todo el día en el campo escogiendo áreas de muestreo, colocando cámaras para observar mamíferos terrestres, tomando datos de localizaciones, temperatura, humedad y elevación. Estuvimos despejando caminos y seleccionando puntos para el muestreo de aves, mientras tomábamos datos sobre las especies de reptiles y anfibios que encontrábamos en el camino. Fue retante, pero la suma de otro compañero al equipo, Nick, nos ayudó de gran manera. La cantidad de trabajo que pudimos completar fue increíble.

Al regresar tuvimos un buen merecido descanso, seguido por la discusión del artículo titulado "From 'education for sustainable development' to 'education for the end of the world as we know it'." Fue una actividad grupal entretenida, pero llena de mucha educación, donde expresamos nuestra opinión y sentimientos en relación a este artículo. 

Reflexioné mucho sobre la conexión entre nuestros sentimientos y nuestras acciones, particularmente con la naturaleza. Entendí las razones por las que muchos esfuerzos y campañas de conservación ambiental no están funcionando. La visualización del problema, enseñanza y manejo no es la apropiada; cosa que sin lugar a dudas debería cambiar. Finalmente, y lo más importante a recordar, cambiar nuestra percepción y ser parte del cambio no nos hace especiales, es algo que debemos hacer al tomar responsabilidad.

As the title suggests, today was a day full of work and reflection. We spent the entire day in the field selecting sampling areas, placing cameras to observe terrestrial mammals, recording data on locations, temperature, humidity, and elevation. We were clearing paths and selecting points for bird sampling while collecting data on the reptile and amphibian species we encountered along the way. It was challenging, but the addition of another team member, Nick, greatly helped us. The amount of work we were able to complete was incredible.

Upon returning, we had a well-deserved rest, followed by a discussion of the article titled "From 'education for sustainable development' to 'education for the end of the world as we know it'." It was an entertaining yet educational group activity where we expressed our opinions and feelings about the article.

I reflected a lot on the connection between our feelings and our actions, particularly with nature. I understood why many environmental conservation efforts and campaigns are not working. The visualization of the problem, education, and management are not appropriate; something that undoubtedly needs to change. Finally, and most importantly to remember, changing our perception and being part of the change doesn't make us special; it's something we must do by taking responsibility.
